AI Connectors: Use Sparrow Intel from Claude, ChatGPT and Grok

Written By Chad McGuire (Sparrow Intel)

[BETA]: AI connectors are in beta and are being turned on account by account. We'll let you know when they're available on your account. During the beta, connections are read-only: your AI app can look things up in Sparrow Intel, but it can't change, send or post anything. Write access is coming soon.

What AI connectors do

AI connectors let you use Sparrow Intel from the AI app you already work in, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Grok. Once connected, you can ask questions about your account in plain language, and the app answers with your live Sparrow Intel data.

AI connectors use MCP (Model Context Protocol), the standard these apps use to connect to other services. You sign in with your own Sparrow Intel login, and the app can only see what your role lets you see.

What you can ask

Your AI app can read:

  • Reviews, review summaries and the review dashboard
  • Review predictions: which guests are likely to leave a good or bad review
  • The reviews you leave for guests
  • Guest feedback survey responses
  • Properties, property groups and Airbnb listing quality
  • Reports, such as category ratings against your goals and cleaner rankings
  • Rules and settings

Other Sparrow Intel features on your account, such as Conversations, are included too. The app only sees the features your account has.

A few questions to try:

  • "Summarize our reviews from the last 90 days. What do guests complain about most?"
  • "Which properties have the lowest cleanliness ratings this quarter?"
  • "Which guests who checked out this week are likely to leave a bad review?"
  • "Which of our Airbnb listings are at risk in listing quality?"
  • "Show our review dashboard for [property group] over the last six months."
  • "Explain what each of our rules does."

Answers can include links back to Sparrow Intel, so you can open a review, property or report in the portal.

Before you start

  • AI connectors must be on for your account. Go to AI Connectors and turn on Allow AI connectors for this account. Owners and Team Members can change this setting.
  • Your role applies. A connected app can never see more than you can in Sparrow Intel.
  • Users limited to specific property groups can't connect yet.

Connect your AI app

Every app works the same way: you add Sparrow Intel to the app as a custom connector, then sign in to Sparrow Intel and approve what the app can do.

  1. In Sparrow Intel, open your account menu and choose AI Connectors (MCP).
  2. Copy the Server URL: https://mcp.sparrowintel.com/mcp
  3. Add Sparrow Intel to your AI app, using the steps for your app below.
  4. Your AI app opens a Sparrow Intel page. Sign in if you're asked to.
  5. If you have access to more than one Sparrow Intel account, choose the account to connect.
  6. Review what the app will be able to do, then click Allow access.

You're sent back to your AI app, and you can start asking questions.

Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

A connector you add in Claude works in Claude on the web, in the desktop app and in the mobile app.

On a Free, Pro or Max plan:

  1. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Enter Sparrow Intel as the name and paste the server URL.
  4. If Claude asks how people sign in, choose Sign in now. For OAuth client, choose Use Claude's published identity. You don't need a client ID or secret.
  5. Click Add. If the Sparrow Intel page doesn't open, click Connect next to Sparrow Intel.

The Free plan allows one custom connector.

On a Team or Enterprise plan:

An Owner of your Claude organization adds Sparrow Intel once. Then each person connects with their own Sparrow Intel login.

  1. The Owner goes to Organization settings > Connectors, selects Add, then Custom (and Web if Claude asks for the connector type).
  2. The Owner enters Sparrow Intel as the name, pastes the server URL and clicks Add.
  3. Each person goes to Customize > Connectors, finds Sparrow Intel with the Custom label and clicks Connect.

Use it in a chat: click the + button in the message box, choose Connectors and make sure Sparrow Intel is on. Claude may ask before it uses a Sparrow Intel tool. Only choose Always allow if you're comfortable with Claude using it without asking.

Claude Code

Run this command in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http sparrow https://mcp.sparrowintel.com/mcp

ChatGPT

Add Sparrow Intel from ChatGPT on the web.

  1. Go to ChatGPT Plugins.
  2. Select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter Sparrow Intel as the name. The description is optional.
  4. Under Connection, paste the server URL into Server URL.
  5. For authentication, choose OAuth.
  6. Review the risk warning, select I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
  7. Find Sparrow Intel in your plugins and install it.

Use it in a chat: in the prompt box, type @ and select Sparrow Intel.

On a ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace: your workspace's permissions decide whether you can add custom MCP servers. If you don't see Add custom MCP server, ask your ChatGPT workspace admin.

Grok

  1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
  2. Click New Connector, then select Custom.
  3. Paste the server URL, then sign in to Sparrow Intel.

Grok picks up Sparrow Intel's tools and can use them in your conversations. If you don't see Custom, your Grok plan may not include custom connectors.

On Grok Business or Enterprise: a team admin adds Sparrow Intel first. On the team's connectors page, the admin clicks + Add Connector, selects Other and enters the server URL. Adding connectors needs the Team Read-Write permission. Each person then goes to grok.com/connectors to connect their own account.

Keep your data safe

  • Access codes stay in Sparrow Intel. Door, lock and gate codes and passwords are replaced with [withheld] in everything your AI app receives.
  • Check that the app is the one you expect. The Sparrow Intel page shows the name of the app asking for access and where approving sends you. Claude, ChatGPT and Grok are marked Verified app. Sparrow Intel marks apps it doesn't recognize as Unverified app. Only continue if you started the connection yourself.
  • Your AI app's terms apply. What your AI app reads from Sparrow Intel is handled by that app's provider under its own terms and privacy settings.

Manage connected apps

The Connected apps list on the AI Connectors page shows each connected app, when it was connected and when it was last used.

  • To disconnect an app, click Disconnect. It loses access to Sparrow Intel right away.
  • You can see and disconnect your own apps. Owners and Team Members see every connection on the account and can disconnect any of them.
  • Turning off Allow AI connectors for this account cuts off every connected app right away.

Troubleshooting

I can't find where to add a custom connector in my AI app. AI apps change their menus often, and custom connectors depend on your app's plan. On work and business plans, an admin may need to add or allow them first. Check your app's own guide: Claude, ChatGPT or Grok.

I don't see AI Connectors in my account menu. AI connectors aren't on for your account yet. We'll let you know when they are.

The Sparrow Intel page says AI connectors aren't turned on. An Owner or Team Member needs to turn on Allow AI connectors for this account on the AI Connectors page. Then try connecting again.

My AI app stopped working with Sparrow Intel. Someone may have disconnected the app, or AI connectors were turned off for the account. Connect the app again from your AI app.

I want to use a different Sparrow Intel account. Each connection works with one account. Disconnect the app, connect it again, and choose the other account on the Sparrow Intel page.

My AI app says Sparrow Intel is busy, or that it's sending too many requests. Sparrow Intel limits how many requests a connection can make in a short time, and large searches and reports can take a moment. Wait a minute, then ask again.
