What Is Conversations?

Written By Chad McGuire (Sparrow Intel)

Overview

Conversations is the messaging hub inside Sparrow Intel. Every guest message β€” across every channel you're connected to β€” flows into a single inbox where your team replies, collaborates, and (when you're ready) hands off some of the work to Chirp AI.

This lesson is the 30,000-foot view. You'll get to the buttons and screens in the next few lessons.

What Conversations does for your team

One inbox, every channel*. Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Expedia, direct email β€” wherever guests message you, the conversation lives in the same place. No more bouncing between four tabs to keep up with a single guest.

AI that drafts, you approve. Chirp AI reads each incoming message, understands what the guest needs, drafts a reply that fits your tone, and shows you a confidence score for the draft. You read it, edit it if you want, and send it. Or β€” when you're ready β€” you let it send on its own under guardrails you control.

Built-in collaboration. Multiple agents can work the inbox simultaneously without stepping on each other. You can see who else is viewing a conversation, who's typing, internal notes that guests will never see, and @-mention teammates when you need a hand.

Insight on every message. Sentiment, action items, cleaning issues, maintenance issues, intent category β€” Sparrow Intel extracts all of this automatically and surfaces it on the conversation so you and your rules can act on it.

How Conversations fits with the rest of Sparrow Intel

Conversations doesn't sit on its own. It connects to:

  • Reviews and Predictions (if you are also subscribed to reputation management) β€” what guests say in messages directly informs whether a stay is likely to get a good or bad review. Our Predictions feature uses conversation context to forecast review outcomes before guests post publicly.

  • Tasks β€” when AI spots a cleaning or maintenance issue in a message, you can route it straight into Breezeway, Guesty, Hostaway, Asana, Track, or a webhook as a real, assignable task.

  • Rules β€” every conversation event (new message, new sentiment, detected issue, specific keyword) can trigger automation: status changes, task creation, label application, agent assignment, and more.

  • Knowledge Snippets β€” your property-specific FAQs, policies, and guidebook content become the grounding material AI uses when drafting replies.

The point: messages aren't an isolated channel. They're the highest-signal source of information about every stay, and Conversations exposes that signal everywhere it's useful.

What you'll be doing in Conversations

The day-to-day looks like this:

  1. Triage the inbox β€” open conversations, mark some as priorities, assign others to teammates

  2. Reply to guests β€” using AI suggestions, templates, or freehand

  3. Collaborate β€” drop internal notes, mention teammates, hand off when needed

  4. Spot operational issues β€” turn a guest mention of a broken faucet into a maintenance task with one click (or zero, if a rule does it for you)

  5. Tune the system β€” refine your templates, knowledge snippets, rules, and Autopilot settings as you learn what works

Power users β€” and at scale, that means anyone working through hundreds of messages per day β€” spend most of their time on steps 1–4 and very little on step 5 once it's dialed in.

A note on Chirp AI

You'll see "Chirp AI" referenced throughout this curriculum. Chirp AI is Sparrow Intel's AI engine β€” the same brain that powers Predictions, review reply suggestions, sentiment analysis, and the AI features inside Conversations. When we talk about "AI suggestions" or "AI auto-reply," we mean Chirp.

Chirp AI is grounded in your data: your reservations, your property details, your knowledge snippets, your previous replies. It's not a generic chatbot bolted on the side.
